Link: Opinion - Life after peak oil - sacbee.com.
A bite-sized speculation on the consequences of expensive oil in the US. The "can't live with it, can't live without it" dilemma is neatly expressed. We will undergo some life-stlye shrinkage. This will "hurt" but at a relatively trivial level compared to the trials of the developing nations. Feeling good about moderation, sustainability and responsibility is already starting to define the new consumer. "Survival of the Shittest" capitalism will struggle with this change. Our pathological consumerism is starting to unwind and this has important consequences for brands. We must go backward to go forwards.
