Spore was carefully hyped and carefully teased into market with a real understanding of the digital generation. So far so good. Sadly the game doesn't deliver - it's great in theory but the experience is awkward and repetitive. There's a DRM issue which is starting to generate a huge amount of noise as well.
And on top of all that, I bought a copy immediately without checking any consumer opinions. £40! Will I never learn?
That said, I spent about 4 days playing it and had some fun along the way. My favourite moment is when you start to encounter little versions of yourself from earlier stages on the evolutionary ladder. It's all relative, especially your relatives.
